Ultrasound and electrostimulation therapy (Dermawave) is used in conjunction with microdermabrasion treatment to increase its efficacy in diminishing dark stains on the skin (hyperpigmentation) and to stimulate the production of collagen to reduce lines and wrinkles. In addition, it is used to reduce the appearance of scars, improve skin tissue elasticity, and reduce edema and postsurgical swelling and bruising, among other uses.
How is the treatment performed?
Dermawave technology combines ultrasound therapy with electrotherapy, and it is used in a variety of esthetic treatments. Ultrasound stimulation uses three wavelengths. Facial treatments use 2 megahertz frequencies. Pre and postsurgical surgical treatments use 1 megahertz and 3 megahertz frequencies. Three megahertz frequency is also used to diminish scars. The combined treatment using electrical pulsations increases circulation in tissues by increasing the metabolic rhythm of the tissues that are being repaired. The treatment is administered with a specially formulated topical gel (Dermawave Ultrasonic Repair Gel) to increase results.
Dermawave therapy does not require recovery time and persons can continue their regular activities after receiving treatment.
